DENTAL BRIDGES
The goal of most people is to maintain their smiles for their entire lifetime. Unfortunately, accidents, injuries, trauma, and poor oral hygiene can lead to one or more teeth being lost.
If you lose a tooth, it is important to find a restorative treatment option as soon as possible. Replacing your missing teeth quickly can help ensure that your remaining teeth stay intact. Shifting teeth can affect your bite, which can adversely impact your chewing, smiling, and speech.
Several options are available for smile restoration. The particular tooth or teeth that have been lost, as well as your timeframe, budget, and cosmetic goals all contribute to which approach can benefit you the most.
WHAT IS A DENTAL BRIDGE?
Dental bridges are an excellent choice to replace one or more missing teeth and keep your bite position in line. Based on the particular characteristics you exhibit, you may find that a dental bridge can provide the restorative method you need.
In general, a dental bridge is a permanent dental reparative process used to replace one or more missing teeth with a dental prosthetic. An artificial tooth is definitively joined to the adjacent teeth or dental implants for a natural smile and bite with the same function as authentic teeth.
Bridges are usually composed of porcelain bonded to precious or non-precious metal or durable ceramic material.
WHAT IS THE DENTAL BRIDGE PROCESS?
Maintain Facial StructureLong-term tooth loss can result in the deterioration of bone density in the jawline, which can lead to a change in the shape and functionality of the jaw. In many cases, this change creates an aged appearance. Dental implants are placed within the bone, helping to stimulate the growth process that maintains bone density.
Long-Lasting CorrectionStructural weakening of the jawline can impair your ability and comfort when it comes to chewing and swallowing. Dental implants act like natural teeth, and the majority of people find that they don’t have to alter their diets or eating habits because of their implants.
Improves Eating FunctionalityUnlike other cosmetic corrections for missing teeth, dental implants provide a long-lasting smile correction. The implants are crafted from highly durable products that aren’t prone to chipping or discoloration, and with proper care, implants last for years.
WHAT ARE MY VENEER OPTIONS?
CONSULTATIONDuring your consultation, you and Dr. Kohani will discuss the cosmetic concerns you have with your smile. He will analyze your teeth and take X-rays to determine whether the imperfections in your dentition can be fixed with veneers.
IMPLANT PLACEMENTThe implant and crown are placed during two separate visits. During the first stage of your procedure, a titanium implant is screwed into the jawbone through a small incision, and a temporary covering is put in place.
OSSEOINTEGRATIONSeveral months will pass between the implant and crown placement to provide time for osseointegration. During this process, your bone grows around the titanium implant, helping to secure it in place. After this healing period, your artificial crown is created.
CROWN PLACEMENTCustom-made crowns are placed on the implant once the area has fully healed. The crowns we create are made of a durable ceramic capable of sustaining high pressure; additionally, the crowns are of similar shape and color to your surrounding teeth in order to preserve the natural aesthetic of your smile. The crown is secured to the connecting piece and cemented into place.

DENTAL IMPLANT RECOVERY
You will be on a soft food or liquid diet for several days following the placement of your dental implant. The full osseointegration process can take anywhere from two to four months.
PAIN AFTER DENTAL IMPLANTAn anesthetic is used during the procedure to minimize surgical pain. Afterward, you may experience some discomfort, such as bruising of the gums, pain at the implant site, and minor bleeding. This pain can be managed with pain medication.
DENTAL IMPLANTS COSTThe precise cost of dental implants in San Diego varies according to individual needs and the extent of correction required. Some insurance companies may cover a portion of the expense. Dr. Kohani will be happy to provide you with a detailed price quote during your consultation.
